Thoughts on Tank Girl

-Because I will not have that 90s-zig-zag cover in this domain, no sir.

-It's...loud. Rather obnoxious. Especially Lori Petty, who here is shrill and grating. Naomi Watts fairs better as Jet Girl. Malcolm McDowell sprinkles on some pepper and digs the fuck in.

-Booga...goddammit...

I might have an unusually positive impression of this movie, because I only got to watch about half of it before it went off Netflix Instant.

Loud and hyperactive as the movie (and Lori Petty) may be, I still found it pretty endearing and funny. I just loved how she kept bouncing back, being ridiculously cheery through one torture after another. Plus Watts & McDowell are both great.

This has punk-rock.com written all over it. That or S&M. I'm slightly interested.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. You just don't see good movies like this anymore!

I'm 90% sure that the art you used for the header is Sub Girl.
And you didn't mention how awful they made her in the movie. Probably because she is unrecognizable from her character in the comic, and doesn't even join up with them.

My biggest problem with the movie is how much they changed to try and placate a wider audience that was never going to be on board in the first place .
Examples:
- In the comic both friend and foe call her Tank Girl. So instead of using her barely (see "never" in my collection) mentioned real name of Rebecca Buck why not get creative and try not giving a name until she finds the tank. Chuck Palahniuk did it for a whole novel.
- Rippers. Who? Booga's crew. What? The mutants, who are not just kangaroos that are human sized and talk and to hell with explanations, but instead we need to invent a character called Johnny Prophet. - Morality, Tank Girl will give the Devil a robe of unspeakable power just so she can appear on the Dame Edna Show, but in the movie she converts about a hundred bordello patrons to monogamous choral singers.
- Lives in Australia... Not a single Aboriginal character. Despite the comic having several, and even the art work sees the cave painting style featured frequently.
- Wait... was it even set in Australia?
